Beneficiaries

Proceeds from the 2023 SF Aloha Run for Hope will support JCYC’s scholarship programs which supports young people in pursuing higher education.  

This year, the organization is excited to announce that funds raised from the run will be used to launch the inaugural Julie Matsueda Believe Scholarship in addition to supporting the Excellence, Pathways and Thomatra Scott scholarship programs. 

JCYC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

Believe Scholarship (new)

The Julie Matsueda Believe Scholarship will provide a long-term commitment to selected preschool participants to be a partner in their journey towards adulthood. Awardees will receive a funded as well as annual contributions to a 529 college saving account, free/priority access to JCYC programs, and individual college advising.

Excellence Scholarship

The JCYC Excellence Scholarship supports High School Seniors who have committed to post-secondary education. Excellence scholarship are awarded to participants of JCYC programs and amounts are based on financial aid provided through other sources.

Pathways Scholarship

The JCYC Pathways Scholarship seeks to encourage families of our younger JCYC participants to start saving early for their child’s path to college. Families will be awarded scholarships to deposit into a ScholarShare account, which is a state-sponsored, 529 college savings account.

Thomatra Scott Scholarship

The Thomatra Scott Scholarship Fund was established to support JCYC’s Black & African American youth on their path to higher education. Awardees are selected based on their alignment with “Scotty’s” values of education, human rights, and racial justice
